The Spring Stomp 2025
Falmouth School's year 7s walked the whole of the Green Corridor.
The Spring Stomp
On 2nd April 2025, Falmouth School's year 7s, 11- to 12-year-olds, took part in the first Spring Stomp. This walk followed the Green Corridor from its start down to the sea. Along the way, they enthusiastically took part in a litter pick, as well as taking a keen interest in the woodlands and those that help protect it. Luckily the day was bright and warm day, with plenty of sun but very windy!

As we reached Swanpool beach, there were three more activities that the year 7s took part in. Half the group completed another litter pick around Swanpool Lake, whilst the other half actively engaged with teams from Blue Meadows and Surfers Against Sewage.

The Blue Meadows team explained about the sea grass meadows that conservation groups are actively recreating across coastal areas. Whilst Surfers Against Sewage raised awareness for microplastics and their dangers. The year 7s were then tasked with finding as many microplastics as they could within the seaweed - and they completed this with a regained energy! Some of the teams were incredibly fast and we were all pleasantly surprised at their efforts.

Walking back was just as calming. Some of the year 7s continued to ask questions about the woodland, and I was honoured that they asked me what I did as I was not a face they knew.
Overall, it was a great morning and I was really impressed with the all the year 7s. They were very polite, genuinely interested and friendly, with their only complaint being that they had an afternoon lesson! Thank you to Falmouth School for allowing me to come along.
