Where in the World: July-September

Hello again! So where in the world have I been over the last few months? Well... let's just say it hasn't been quiet but I've enjoyed every minute of it.

For the first part of July, I was visiting friends and family, enjoying some brief time at home, before embarking on a kayaking weekend with Girl Guiding/Scouting.

During some of the nice weather, I headed up to Regent's Park to see the roses/flowers and gain inspiration for my next photography project.

I have missed taking pictures of flowers during my 'Walk With Me' project, so for my next project, I am going to focus on flowers/flowering plants. This is just the start of an idea at the moment, so we will see how it develops.

But before I get onto that more, I headed down to Falmouth for Graduation!

Graduation went off amazingly. From getting the gown, to the actual ceremony and then celebrating with my friends afterwards. The hall was decorated brilliantly - though did look a bit like Hogwarts with the black banners hung precisely around the hall with yellow lights illuminating the banners and stage. During the actual ceremony, Dawn French (Falmouth University's Chancellor) spoke really well and her talk was inspiring, funny and true; you can't walk through Falmouth town without seeing at least 5 people you know!

I achieved a Second Class, Upper Division (2.1) in BA (Hons) Marine and Natural History Photography from Falmouth University. I am very happy with this as before starting university, I had not had any formal photography tuition, only a passion for animals, flowers and photography. Now, I am a Wildlife Visual Storyteller and looking to start my next project.

During early August, I was back to Cornwall one last time for Guide Camp, before returning home and looking for a job.

Many of the people I have talked to may know that I was hoping to go up to Scotland for work. I loved the mountains, lochs, red squirrels, ospreys, and golden eagles found up there, after self-funding my research trip to Aviemore, Scotland for my Red Squirrel dissertation. However, finding a job was more complicated than I thought and I could not just move up there for 'just any job'.

As I have stayed at home for longer than a few weeks, I have enjoyed exploring the places around me. This includes many National Trust properties, such as Emmett's Garden and Ightam Moat, as well as Penshurst Place and Gardens and many others.

Even saw a Grey Heron at Penshurst Place...

I am working now on a flower-focused project; beginning to look at the whole plant, what their greater purpose is, and how we can appreciate the plants more.

Heading into Autumn, I look forward to the colder weather, the bright sun that comes out occasionally, and the beautiful colours that the leaves turn.

Thank you for reading my blog and next time you are outside, make sure you take some time to stop. Appreciate the sun, sky and plants around you and see how beautifully detailed they are.
